Dabu prints, originating from Rajasthan, India, are a unique form of block printing known for their intricate designs and the use of natural dyes. The process involves creating a mud resist (Dabu) that is applied to the fabric using wooden blocks. After drying, the fabric is dipped in a dye bath, typically indigo. The areas covered by the mud resist remain uncolored, creating beautiful patterns. Post-dyeing, the mud is washed off, revealing the design. Dabu prints are celebrated for their eco-friendliness and cultural significance, embodying traditional Indian textile art and supporting local artisan communities.
